Learn avalanche safety skills and how to navigate the backcountry the smart way with Hokkaido Backcountry Club’s (HBC) fully certified Niseko avalanche skills training courses. These courses are recommended for any skiers or snowboarders planning on enjoying Niseko’s backcountry or off-piste terrain. Depending on your existing skills HBC offers two or four-day avalanche courses that will give you the knowledge and skills for crucial decision making in avalanche terrain.

Niseko’s backcountry is easily accessible through a series of gates that lead straight from the patrolled ski runs to the powder-filled wilderness of the beyond. Investing in Niseko avalanche skills training for navigating this area will help to ensure a safe and enjoyable ski trip.

COURSE DESCRIPTION PRICE
Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST 1) 2 day course 25,000/person
Avalanche Skills Training Level 2 (AST 2) 4 day course 55,000/person

Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 is a prerequisite for Avalanche Skills Training Level 2.

Locals discount is available to all Japan residents.  Please bring a valid foreign resident card or Japanese ID idicating your residency in Hokkaido to qualify. 

Includes
  • AST 1 price includes manual and all necessary backcountry gear
  • AST 2 price is non-inclusive. Participants should bring their own backcountry touring and avalanche safety equipment, or contact HBC in advance to arrange rentals

Terms & Conditions

  • Bookings are not confirmed until you receive confirmation from Stoked Niseko via email.
  • Payment for any tour or service is due at the time booking confirmation.
  • Requests for changes or cancellations should be sent via email to [email protected]
  • Rates are based on 2016-17 season.
  • Cancellations within 7 days of the tour or service date will incur a 100% cancellation fee
  • Bookings are subject to the Stoked Niseko terms and conditions.
